Beat the drought/Water in the South East
The focal point of a joint initiative between the seven water companies in the South East of England and the Environment Agency, the site Hwww.beatthedrought.comH was launched in March 2006 with the aim raising awareness about the serious drought then affecting the South East as well as water conservation messages.
“Boxharry played a crucial role in first identifying a gap in the communication efforts of water companies as the south-east drought worsened, and then filled it spectacularly with the concept of www.beatthedrought.com... they demonstrate a professional approach to website design and development, and are skilled at transforming a client brief into a practical working site.
“I have found that Boxharry is fairly unique in being able to speak plain English for the benefit of those of us who are not au-fait with website technology and its associated jargon!... the development of www.beatthedrought.com and now www.waterinthesoutheast.com has been viewed by all its participants – most of whom are experienced communication professionals - as one of the most successful joint communication ventures undertaken during the serious drought.”
Jane Gould, Communications Manager, South East Water
This high profile site was designed and built by Boxharry, and was administered using the Boxharry Snapper Content Management System, enabling content to be updated by in-house teams from the 7 water companies.
In Summer 2007 the site was redeveloped with a new focus, to reflect the changing water resources situation.
The new site, www.waterinthesoutheast.com, continues to promote awareness of water resource issues, and poses the question of whether extremes in weather patterns associated with the impact of climate change are linked.
